Brian Brown at the Wheel
“Blackjack” Brian Brown, from Grain Valley, MO, continued his dominance of Winged Sprint Cars during the month of July with wins in Denison, and Knoxville, IA this past week. Brian drove his Weld Racing wheel equipped #21 FVP Sprint Car to a dominating win in Denison, IA on Wednesday night as he stormed past the front row starters on the first lap to lead every lap of the feature event. “I was a little bit concerned starting fourth, because Clint (Garner) was on the front with Lee Grosz, and they are always good,” Brian says. “Bronson (Maeschen) was up there too, and won that race last year. I was able to get the lead down the backstretch. We had a few cautions, but we were in good shape on the restarts.”
Brown continued his streak on Saturday Night at the famed ½ Mile Dirt Oval in Knoxville, IA. After Qualifying 5th
quick and winning a heat race, Brian would start in 3rd
for the main event. Brian passed Chad Humston and had clear sailing all the way to the checkered flag where he would record his 8th
win of the season and his 4th
win of the year at Knoxville. “The feature went pretty smooth, and it was good to be back on the Hoosiers (tires) at Knoxville,” he said. “Our goal was not necessarily to win with the 360. Whether we won, ran fifth or ran tenth, we just wanted to get some laps in with our new Maxim chassis with Wesmar power. We wanted to see how we stacked up against some of the best 360 racers in the country. Obviously, we were pleased with the car. This is a great start in the preparations to win the Knoxville Nationals in August.”
Brian is one of the drivers chosen to test new products for Weld Racing. His analytical feedback is used to assess the benefits of newly engineered products for oval track racers.
