WELD Racing-Equipped Drivers Start Strong

A rain delayed Gatornationals did not deter Matt Hagen of Tony Stewart Nitro Racing as he took home his first victory of the season in funny car class. In an amazing comeback story just one year after walking away from a devastating crash at the 2021 Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, Jasmine Salinas experienced the greatest retribution by driving her Scrappers Racing entry to her first Wally in Top Alcohol class.

Scrappers Racing’s Mike Salinas took first place in Top Fuel competition at the Arizona Nationals, with Clay Millican of Stringer Performance finishing as runner-up. John Force Racing’s Robert Hight won the Funny Car competition, as Matt Hagan of Tony Stewart Nitro Racing finished second at Wild Horse Motorsports Park. In the Pro Stock class, Aaron Stanfield of Janac Brothers took the podium, while Jegs/Elite Performance’s Troy Coughlin Jr. was runner-up at last weekend’s Arizona Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park.

The remarkable results from Phoenix followed an action-packed Lucas Oil Winternationals, held in Pomona, California. The season’s first weekend of racing was highlighted by WELD Racing-backed Robert Hight beating fellow WELD Racing-sponsored Ron Capps in Funny Car competition. In an all-WELD Racing Pro Stock final, Erica Enders earning a victory over Aaron Stanfield, while WELD Racing-sponsored Austin Prock finished as a runner-up in Top Fuel competition. In all WELD Racing racked up 14 classes wins and 11 runner-up spots over the first three events of the season.

“What an incredible way to start off the 2022 NHRA season,” said Andres Cisneros, President of MW Company. “We’re looking forward to more amazing results as we head to the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.”
